ActiveBPEL Extensions to WS-BPEL 2.0

In addition to fully supporting the WS-BPEL 2.0 specification, ActiveBPEL supports the following BPEL extensions.

Process Level Extensions

• Compensation handler and termination handler

The extension namespace is http://www.activebpel.org/2006/09/bpel/extension/process_coordination

• Query handling including Create XPath and Disable Selection Failure

For details, see Process Element and Properties.

The extension namespace is http://www.activebpel.org/2006/09/bpel/extension/query_handling

Activities

The ActiveBPEL extension activities are Suspend, Break, and Continue.

The extension namespace is http://www.activebpel.org/2006/09/bpel/extension/activity

The ActiveBPEL for People Plugin, which is a design tool for ActiveBPEL Enterprise, installs an extension activity, called the People activity. This activity introduces human workflow into a BPEL process, when a process activity requires human decision-making.

Custom XPath Functions

There are several ActiveBPEL custom functions, as described in Using the Expression Builder.

The extension prefix abx is for the namespace http://www.activebpel.org/2006/09/bpel/extension
